It is time for our annual United Way Campaign! Teachers and students give to United Way every year to keep programs like Camp iRock available to our students. For the past several years Pickens Elementary has been one of the top givers! This week students can bring in cash or change to contribute to their grade's donations. From 4K-5th! At the end of the week, the grade that has collected the most money gets an extra recess!!!

With the SDPC Teacher Forum, Pickens Elementary has decided to partner with other area schools to help children in need in Western North Carolina. Many homes and schools lost everything to flooding and we want to help! "Sunshine Bags" will be assembled and sent to Old Fort Elementary. Pickens Elementary will be collecting NEW childrens books for this mission. Please consider donating a book for elementary age children, grades 4K-5th that will fit inside a gallon ziploc bag. An Amazon shopping list has been created if you would like to use it or get ideas from. Boxes will be located inside the front doors that students can place their books in as they bring them in. We will collecting all donations thru November 18th. Thank you for helping spread some sunshine in the midst of the storm!
