Our district welcomes substitute teachers and substitutes in food, nurse, and custodial services. All of our substitutes are hired through KUDZU Staffing. Those interested in subbing for the 2019-2020 School year can view vacancy listings and apply when a KUDZU Staffing Substitute pool is posted on the district Website. Substitute teachers must have a four-year college degree or have taken and passed the WorkKeys Assessment* at the Bronze level; certified teachers are preferred. Food service and custodial substitutes must have a four year college degree or have taken and passed the WorkKeys Assessment at the bronze level. Nursing substitutes must have a LPN or RN credential.

Complete an online application with references through School Recruiter only when positions are vacant.
Attend a substitute training class
Pass a SLED background check
Provide a TB evaluation within the last 12 months
Substitute Training and Invitation
Once the substitute package is complete (application, required documents, and references), he/she will receive a substitute training invitation from KUDZU Staffing. In the invitation, KUDZU will provide a list of additional documents to bring to the training along with the location and time of the training.
The substitute teacher training provides information about the district and schools as well as techniques and strategies for effective teaching.
The substitute food service and custodian training provides information on safety and food handling procedures.

Teacher Substitute Compensation
Without a degree - $62/day
With a 4-year degree and /or certification - $75/day
With a 4-year degree after 10 consecutive days for the same employee - $100/day
With Certification after 30 consecutive days for the same employee - $202.70/day
Custodian Substitute Compensation
$9.00 per hour/minimum wage (days 1-10)
$11.76 per hour after 10 consecutive days for same absence (day 11 for the same employee)
Compensation for Teacher Assts., Special Ed Assts., and Media Clerks
After 10 consecutive days for the same employee - $13.79/hr
After 10 consecutive days for the same employee (special ed) - $14.42/hr
Compensation for Nurse Sub
RN - $21.00/hr
Tutors (ESOL, Adult Ed, and Homebound)
Current substitutes are required to attend a 30 minute annual update to remain on the active sub list.
Additional information regarding dates will be provided on the district website as well as the AESOP home page.
Substitutes not attending the update will be inactivated for the current year.
Once inactivated, substitutes must re-apply when a vacancy has been posted through School Recruiter.
